New Interview With Brittany Curran

The popular blog Beliefnet recently published a new interview with Food Boy star Brittany Curran. In the interview Brittany shares some her experiences from the set of The Adventures of Food Boy and working with Lucas Grabeel.

Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

“What is it about food fights that makes them so much fun? And was the huge food fight in the movie fun to film?

They’re fun because you can throw all this junk around and not worry about it. It’s a non-lethal way of having fun and fighting…but when we did it in the movie, it ended up looking really gross. It was all over and in my hair but the worst was the smell.”

Auction for Brittany Curran Build-A-Bear

To celebrate the launch of the new Build-A-Bear Wii game, The Game Factory is auctioning off celebrity Build-A-Bear Workshop creations to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California - an organization that has been providing comfort and care to children in need of medical care, and their families, for more than 30 years.

Food Fight Winners!

After much deliberation by the judges, we are excited to announce the winners of our “Best Food Fight” contest! We had so many great entries that we ended up with a tie for 2nd place (both 2nd place winners will get an official Food Boy t-shirt).

Congratulations to all of the winners! And thanks again to everyone who entered. We’re planning some great future contests as well so check back here often for more updates.

3RD PLACE:
Plum to the Head - (from R.F.)
I got hit in the head with a plum in a food fight. The plum thrower
was a bully-type creature (much like Garrett in The Adventures of Food Boy) who terrorized junior high schoolers. Later in life he was prosecuted for stalking Steven Spielberg.

2ND PLACE (TIE):
21st Birthday - (from R.W.)
My food fight didn’t last long. It was on my 21st birthday. We were out back hanging out and barbecueing. Little did I know that my best friend was sneaking up behind me with a lid from the whipped cream tub full of whipped cream. She snuck up behind me, and without warning from my other friends who were there, she nailed me in the face with the whipped cream. I wasn’t mad (honestly). I was out of my seat in less than one second and I started chasing her. She bolted into our house with me in hot pursuit. She ran out our front door, and that’s when I got her. I tackled her (messing around), took a huge glob of whipped cream from my face, and smeared it all over her face. I got her back good.

2ND PLACE (TIE):
Chocolate Milk Is Funny - (from L.D.)
My brother had a great food fight just before his graduation from 8th grade. All of the boys were dressed nice for the graduation. Then, out of nowhere, some kid started throwing food. There was food flying around the room! My brother and some others had milk in their hair. There wasn’t time for anyone to change so a bunch of kids who had dressed up for graduation had to graduate covered in food. My brother thought it was great. I don’t know why, but it is really funny to have chocolate milk in your hair. They never found out who started the food fight.

1ST PLACE WINNER:
Last Day of School - (from B.M.)
Words had been passed in secret. Lockers in the senior hallway rattled with excitement, and everyone knew why. Today was our last day of school, and therefore our last day of sojourning to the school cafeteria and eating lunch amidst that humming machine of droning student voices. The idea was collective and we deserved it; a last and triumphant defiance of all that we had torturously endured for four years would culminate in a food fight to end all food fights. I knew my role just as did the many other soldiers of insanity. The hour drew near and we gathered in the cafeteria. But alas, the most shocking and dismal fate lay ahead of us. Somehow, our secret band of revolution had experienced a leak in security, our schemes had most undeniably been found out. As evidenced by the fact that for the first time all members of the principal’s most elect units where flanking the walkways though out the room. Like vultures they glared at us waiting, watching, hoping to not only find a stray piece of food, but the hands and body of whomever had hurled it. So we sat. Silence fell, and the room was heavy. No one had the guts. Then Tucker, a meaty jock sitting right near me, bit of the school bully yelled out, “Just start it already!”

The Vice Principal gave him a glare. I couldn’t take it. The room grew to quiet and the time was too short. My palms began to sweat. I knew what I needed to do. I went for it. I reached forward in secret and grabbed a half eaten slice of pizza from the tray in front of me and sent it spiraling though the air. It flew like a flaming eagle and came crashing down into an unknown end. The crowd gasped! I looked and realized no one had seen me, but my torpedo-like snack had struck the black panty hosed leg of the Vice Principal! She pointed and glared at the now laughing crowd.

“TUCKER!” She screamed! “Principal’s office right now!”

“But, I didn’t do it?” He protested. It didn’t matter, while many countries need a reason to start war, she needed a scapegoat to stop this one.

As they dragged him down to the office, the bell rang and students began to stand and make motions to return to class. All but one had a sad continence. The one who spent his last day in high school having a food fight…me!

Food Fight Winners - Honorable Mention

We had lots of great entries to our food fight contest. So many, that we added a category of “Honorable Mention” for four great entries. We’ll post the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners tomorrow.

For now, here are the “Honorable Mention” winners!

Flying Pizza – (from P.F.)
This food fight was rather interesting. It was back in July when one of my friends, who had been in Brazil because of a school interchange, came back after spending a whole year there. Some of my friends and I planned a reunion to catch up with everything that happened in the year and how life had changed for all of us. We were having a great time, enjoying a picnic outside my friend’s house with pizza, cake, sodas and even hot wings.

Out of nowhere, I see a slice of pizza flying right above my head and into my friend’s face, knocking the soda he was about to drink right out of his hand. Now, this wasn’t a fight anyone was aware of, but was “started” by my other friend who had tripped and landed mere inches away from me. I don’t think any of us had the time to process what was happening, but I do remember having tomato sauce in my face and throwing away a big piece of vanilla cake, which completely ruined my friend’s hair. It’s the only food fight I have ever had, but it was definitely the best because we got to hang out with all of my friends again and remember how much fun we used to have before we separated. Of course cleaning the mess afterwards was not that great.

…just a warning – (from T.P.)
I was in 5th grade when this happened. I was sitting in the cafe with my friends and we were talking about the guy I had a major crush on. My friend that was sitting across from me kept threatening to tell him.

“He’s sitting right there. Ohhh, I’m gonna tell him!” she kept saying. Of course, I didn’t want my friend to tell him so…I picked up a fork full of spaghetti and threatened to throw it at her.

“Jeez, I was just kidding. DON’T DO IT!!” she begged. So I showed her some mercy and decided to put the spaghetti down…but in the process of trying to unbend my plastic fork…I accidentally let it go. Uh oh! The spaghetti went flying at my friend but lucky for her, she ducked. Unfortunately, that didn’t stop the spaghetti. It kept going and almost hit a teacher and a kid sitting about 7-9 tables down from us. The teacher I almost hit saw my face and accused me right away.

The teacher came over and said “Um, would that by any chance be YOUR spaghetti on the floor?” All I could think to say was “Uhhhh…yeahh.” I thought that was when i was gonna get it! Detention, suspension, EXPELLED!!!

Then the teacher said, “it is your birthday so I guess I can let you off with a warning…”

I guess you could say the moral of the story is never try to unbend a plastic fork because what ever is on it WILL go flying across the cafe!

Raising Money for UNICEF on Halloween – (from E.J.)
I spent Halloween in my driveway raising money for the charity UNICEF. I’m a big fan of High School Musical (of course, because Lucas Grabeel is in it!) and so I dressed as Sharpay and had a Zac Efron cardboard stand-up and a decorated table with HSM music playing. I sat outside in the cold for over 4 hours, after having made flyers for all of the homes in the community and personally delivering them to each mailbox–it took about an hour just to deliver them! Over 80 houses!

Anyway, many gracious people donated with their children, and afterwards at about 8 o’clock I went door to door for a bit, but as a UNICEF rule I cannot accept candy from the houses if I’m collecting donations. So I returned home at about 8:30, exhausted and candy-less–but I raised over 60 dollars! I flopped down on the couch to finally relax, until I felt something hit my head…I looked down to see a Kit-kat bar. Then, candy was flying at me from all angles from my younger brother and sister, who had been trick-or-treating all afternoon! After the “attack” they told me that the candy was for me because they felt bad that I had worked hard and didn’t have any. It was SO sweet! Well, literally! We’re all gonna share the candy together.

So, I guess thats the food-fight…it’s not really that messy or adventurous, but I think that it comes from the heart, and to me, it was unforgettable!

I’d like to have a food fight like in Food Boy, but I’m home schooled – (from T.)
Here is the only story of food fight I have ever been in.

My sister and I were in the kitchen together one day. My mommy was at work and my daddy was taking a nap (he works third shift). I had peas and some other stuff on my plate, and I threw one at my sister, it hit her in the back of the head! Then she threw some at me and it went up and hit the ceiling fan. It splattered EVRYWHERE! It was on the mirror, the wall, the clean dishes and everywhere else! The good thing is we cleaned it up before my daddy woke up or my mommy came home. They didn’t even notice! lol!!! And they still don’t know! We were going to throw other stuff too but, it would be too messy and it would be impossible to clean up!!! I also just sometimes have mini food fights I will throw corn at my sister then she will throw some at me. And it will end! But, the first food fight lasted for like 10-20 minutes!!! Boy, did we have a mess to clean up! But, it compared nothing to the food fight scene in “The Adventures of Food Boy!” I want to have a food fight like in the movie but, I am home-schooled!!!

Interview with Ryne Sanborn

Here’s the latest in our periodic interviews with members of the cast of The Adventures of Food Boy. Once again, we’ve used questions that were submitted by readers of the blog. So thanks to everyone who has submitted questions, and please feel free to send in any other questions for future interviews.

Today’s interview is with Ryne Sanborn. We had a chance to catch up with Ryne recently even though he’s extremely busy with several other projects going on right now.

Most of you know Ryne as the talented, but sometimes clueless, basketball player Jason Cross in Disney’s hit High School Musical movies where he starred with Food Boy co-stars Lucas Grabeel and McCall Clark. Ryne reprises his role as Jason Cross in the upcoming High School Musical 3, due out in theaters later this month.

In The Adventures of Food Boy, Ryne plays the part of Mike—a typical student at Timpview High School who is impacted and influenced by Ezra’s (Lucas Grabeel) food powers.

Ryne is from Salt Lake City, Utah, and prior to his appearances in the High School Musical movies, he had appeared in the TV shows “Touched By An Angel” and “Everwood.” Ryne was also the “Child of Light” in the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Hi Ryne. It’s great to see you again and to catch up a little bit about what you’ve been doing over the past year. To start, we wanted to ask how you first got into acting.
It’s great to see you guys again too. When I was little (2 yrs) my mom put me in modeling and when I was 7 my agency accidentally sent me on an audition and I got the job and just kept acting after that.

What kind of job would you have if you weren’t an actor?
I would be in college full time studying to become an Architect.

What did you do on your downtime on the set of The Adventures of Food Boy, and who did you hang out with most?
We mainly just hung out and talked and listen to music. I hung out the most with McCall Clark. She’s also from Salt Lake City and we’ve known each for a while.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Flying so I would never have to drive or fly in a plane any more.

What was your favorite part of filming The Adventures of Food Boy?
Hanging out with every body

Who’s your favorite superhero?
Iron Man

Who’s your favorite actor?
Tom Cruise

Do you think Food Boy could beat Iron Man in a fight?
Never!

Who would win a cooking contest between Food Boy and Rachel Ray?
Food Boy!

What are you studying in college?
Architecture

What are your future plans?
