Dane Cannon – Director When producers Marc and Sam Mangum first approached Dane about the concept for The Adventures of Food Boy Dane’s initial responses was, “Did you say food appears in his hands?” After sitting down, taking a deep breath and listening to the story again he said, “And he doesn’t fight crime? I guess that makes sense. I’m in.” And from that moment started the creative collaboration to bring to life this most unlikely superhero. As he approached this project, Dane brought his love of comic books and superheroes together with a vision of a story that attempts to break many of the stereotypes of films in both the superhero and teen/tween genres. He also brought his unending patience, his sense of humor and his knack for practical jokes to help smooth the often stressful process of film production. What has resulted is a story about a somewhat typical teenager trying to deal with a very not typical power…a totally unique superpower that none of us has ever seen before. The Adventures of Food Boy is Dane’s feature directorial debut. Working with the same producers, Dane also directed the award winning short film Food Boy: The Short Film which was named by KIDS First! as one of the best indie short films for kids in 2007 and was the basis of this feature film. |
